Stefano Scarani (Novara, Italy 1966)

Composer, video artist and researcher. Ph.D. in Music by the Universitat Politècnica de València. The guidance of Franco Donatoni, Riccardo Sinigaglia and Alvise Vidolin has been fundamental in his education.

In 1993, together with Alberto Morelli, he gave life to Tangatamanu, a project dedicated in particular to the composition and creation of music for installations and interactive systems, realizing various works, among others for Studio Azzurro and Peter Greenaway. Electroacústic music performer in theatre, performances and concerts with AGON acustica informatica musica, Change Performing Arts and various ensembles in Italy and abroad. Since 2016 he has been working as an artist with the EMAP project (European Music Archeology Project), together with Alberto Morelli, plays in concerts and reinterpretations of hybrid musical instruments languages in archeology and contemporaneity.

Professor at Centro Superior de Música del País Vasco Musikene (Spain), Associate Professor at the Universitat Politècnica de València (Spain). He was professor of Sound Design on the Faculty of Design of the Polytechnic University of Milan (Italy), professor of Multimedia composition in Conservatorio Superiore di Como, (Italy), External professor at the AFAM Course Musica per l'immagine at Civica Scuola di Música “C. Abbado” of Milan (Italy) He is also very active in teaching, giving lectures and running workshops for musicians and university students.

He has collaborated as a composer and sound design with Peter Greenaway, Robert Wilson, Luca Francesconi, Victor Rasgado, Moni Ovadia, Roberto Andò, Peter Bottazzi, Michele Tadini, in Europe, USA, Latin America and Japan.

Is member of the goup of Investigation Laboratorio de Creación Intermedia and PerformingARTech, creator of the colaborative creation-system Soundcool, in the Universitat Politècnica de València.
